Lyrics of Leaving by Anne Clark

Remember me for what I was
Not as I am now
I'll merge into the shadows
I'll disappear into the rain

Remember me for what I was
Not as you see me now
I'll walk out into tomorrow
I'll melt into the sun

Remember me for what I was
A glance in your direction at the right time
A smile breaking into a crescent moon
A word of reassurance

I'll protect myself
Against the cold lash of tongues and lies
I'll blend in with the crowd
I'll disperse into the stream
I'll fade into the darkness
I'll turn and walk away

Remember me for what I was
As one world breaks in two
I'll follow my own stricts
I'll forge another path

Remember me for what I was
Not what I couldn't be
Remember me for what I was
And shall never be again

An old and somewhat forgotten, yet beautiful, song of the late eighties by Anne Clark.

Everytime - Lustral

Can you hear me
Talking in my mind
I can feel you
You're with me all the time
Everytime I close my eyes
I see your face
Everytime I close my eyes
I see your face
There's a warm sky
Covering the night
In the darkness
I only see the night
Everytime I close my eyes
I see your face
Everytime I close my eyes
I see your face
When I'm lonely
Your voice is in my head
And my memory feeds my soul
With all the things you've said
Everytime I close my eyes
I see your face
Everytime I close my eyes
I see your face
Everytime I close my eyes
I see your face

Lustral is the name of remixer and producer duo Stephen Jones and Rick Sommonds. Lustral is a player for quite some time in the dance scene. Everytime is their first release and one of their most known, and most remixed songs. The song was released on the progressive Hooj Choons label. The initial release was a 12" maxi with Everytime - Nalin & Kane remix and the original everytime. Two years later, in 1999, a Way out West remix of the instant classic was released. One of the lesser known, yet beautiful, mixes is this Red Jerry's mix, a blunted drum and bass tune as base.

Need You Tonight - INXS

It's so strange
How my life's changed
I know nothing
About the people that I touched

Heard a story
It sounded easy
If you don't care
Then you're lying through your teeth

I was shook up
Intoxicated
Drank the juices
Of the possibilities

I'm so alive

If you told me
Nothing's perfect
Hearts are broken
Nothing's free

I could show you
Why it's worth it
That's the way that it's meant to be

It's too strange
How your life's changed
You know nothing
About the people that you've touched

Someone told me
Life is easy
Hearts were bleeding and breaking
They were lying through their teeth

If you told me
Nothing's perfect
Hearts are broken
Nothing's free

I will show you
Why it's worth it
And that's the way that it's meant to be

If you told me
Nothing's perfect
Hearts are broken
Nothing's free

I could show you
Why it's worth it
That's the way that it's meant to be

Heard a story
It sounded easy
Got a new skin and
I'm lying through my teeth
I was shook up
Intoxicated
I drank the juices of the possibilities

Of the possibilities

Michael Kelland Hutchence left this earth exact 10 years ago. His last recorded song was 'Possibilities'. A very triphopesque song, and in my opinion one of his masterpieces. You can hear the full official version on his official site. Danny Saber, who plays bass and keyboard in INXS, was co-writer of lyrics and music of this song. His sister Tina maintains a website in memory of her beloved brother Michael. His most popular song, Suicide Blonde, was written for Kylie Minogue. They played an awesome live version of Suicide Blonde on Jools Holland in 1994. Tall Paul made a blasting dance tune on the Decode label and used samples of "Never Tear Us Apart". Never Tear Us Apart was played on Michael Hutchences funeral.

First and only dancehall hit by the Jamaican Singer, Ini Kamoze in 1994. The 'na nanana na' tune is sampled from Wilson Picket's 'Land of a 1000 dances'. He also sampled Taana Gardner's song Heartbeat along the way. Watch the clip on youtube. The song is featured on the soundtrack of the movie Prêt à porter.

Uninvited by Alanis Morissette

Like anyone would be
I am flattered by your fascination with me
Like any hot blooded woman
I have simply wanted an object to crave
But you're not allowed
You're uninvited
An unfortunate slight

Must be strangely exciting
To watch the stoic squirm
Must be somewhat heartening
To watch shepard meet shepard
But you're not allowed
You're uninvited
An unfortunate slight

Like any uncharted territory
I must seem greatly intriguing
You speak of my love like
You have experienced like mine before
But this is not allowed
You're uninvited
An unfortunate slight

I don't think you unworthy
I need a moment to deliberate

The original song, by Alanis Morissette in 1998. Performing the song live with her haunting voice. Short after this release there was a white label trance version of this song. The trance remix of uninvited had even more anger than the original. This summer The Freemasons released a new version with the vocals of Bailey Tzuke. On the same Promo release you can find other mixes of the song, including the WAWA and Baliey & Rosko remix. The Freemasons released two versions. The initial Bailey Tzuke vocal version and a release which featured the vocals from Alanis Morissette's orignal Uninvited.

Ghost - Deepsky

I was a ghost before you came
I was a slave but then I changed
And I will take the good and bad from many
When I am a slave to this again
So leave me alone
Before the strain
Of listening to me
Becomes more
Than you can bear
Or maybe this time we will be fine
Or else tomorrow
Will be lost

I feel you calling me when I am alone
I feel you calling me it's keeping me up
I wanna be with you now

It keeping me
It's keeping me up

There was a force I swear
I thought it d take me out
And there was a chance that we could go so far
As I look in your eyes
I know that you say
No war no war no more
No more battles to fight in this life

I feel you calling me when I'm alone
I feel you calling me
It's keeping me up
I wanna be with you now
I feel you calling me when I'm alone
Hot nights and moonlight it's keeping me up
I gotta be with you now

Tell me you'll wait till then to find
What races and grates before we explode
And maybe this time we will be fine
And our tomorrow
It won't be lost within this lie

I swear.

I feel you calling me when I'm alone
I feel you calling me
It's keeping me up
I wanna be with you now
I feel you calling me when I'm alone
Hot nights and moonlight it's keeping me up
I gotta be with you now

The original mix with featured vocals from Jes Brieden, is to be watched on Youtube. Check out the MySpace profile of Deepsky. I think the Filo & Peri mix rocks more than the original. The Joe Bermudez & Klubjumbers edit is too soft, compared to the original.

Sadeness

Procedamus in pace
In nomine Christi, Amen
.
Cum angelis et pueris,
fideles inveniamur
.
Attollite portas, principes, vestras
et elevamini, portae aeternales
et introibit rex gloriae
Qius est iste Rex glorie?
.
Sade dit moi
Sade donne moi
.
Procedamus in pace
In nomine Christi, Amen
.
Sade dit moi
qu'est ce que tu vas chercher ?
le bien par le mal
la vertu par le vice
Sade dit moi pourquoi l' 'evangile du mal ?
quelle est ta religion ou` sont tes fide`les ?
Si tu es contre Dieu, tu es contre l'homme
.
Sade dit moi pourquoi le sang pour le plaisir ?
Le plaisir sans l'amour.
N'y a t'il plus de sentiment dans le culte de l'homme ?
.
Sade es-tu diabolique ou divin?
.
Sade dit moi
Hosanna
Sade donne moi
Hosanna
Sade dit moi
Hosanna
Sade donne moi
Hosanna
.
In nomine Christi, Amen

The famous song by Enigma, the band from Michael Cretu. Vocals are from his wife, Sandra Cretu. Probably the first 'lounge' song, as we know lounge today: electronically easy listening. They released several videoclips for this song: watch the first on Youtube. The Masters of Chant series, by Gregorian is probably inspired by the popularity of this song.

Zanna

I've gone up and down
from truth to doubt,
and now that you're far gone
I cast about

the ship is lost, untied
because I know you lied
the way you're so unclear
without a love to stear

every chance I take
takes more and more
things get lost or break
without a more

the ship is lost, untied
because I know you lied
the way you're so unclear
without a love to stear

every place I go
I know you will
follow me and so
I wait and still

the ship is lost and untied
because I know you lied
the way you're so unclear
without a love to stear

One of the most haunting Belgian songs of the 80's. Anna Domino is an American vocalist, who stayed in Belgium in the eighties. Altough she has worked with several big names such as Depeche Mode, Marc Moulin, ..., we will remember her for this song, written by Luc van Acker. You can listen to a small part (in .ram format) here.
The song was recently used in a film by Felix van Groeningen, called Steve+Sky.

Maria Nayler - Angry Skies

someday no day
its all right?
its all day.

theres is price to pay
for the mistakes you make
to discover what you do
it will always come back to you
i couldn't see it before
hiding behind closed doors
when you step outside yourself
and with the face of someone else

breaking your fall from grace
killing this empty space
like the thorn in your side
it puts the dent in your pride
no one believes you now
it caught up with you somehow
and you wonder what your feeling
will it never be the same?

in the moment of madness
under your angry skies
you are not what you feel
this is insanity
from the shadows
of darken, the of depths of your angels eyes
knowing nothing is real
this is insanity

from the shadows
of darken, the of depths of your angels eyes
knowing nothing is real
this is insanity

in the moment of madness
under your angry skies
you are not what you feel
this is insanity
from the shadows
of darken, the of depths of your angels eyes
knowing nothing is real
this is insanity

someday no day
its all right its all day
in the moment of madness
under your angry skies
you are not what you feel
this is insanity
from the shadows
of darken, the of depths of your angels eyes
knowing nothing is real
this is insanity

from the shadows
of darken, the of depths of your angels eyes
knowing nothing is real
this is insanity

Starin' Through My Rear View Mirror

[Tupac]
Staring at the world through my rearview
Just looking back at the world, from another level yaknowhatImean?
Starin...

Multiple gunshots fill the block, the fun stops
Niggaz is callin cops, people shot, nobody stop
I wonder when the world stopped caring last night
Two kids shot while the whole block staring
I will never understand this society, first they try
to murder me, then they lie to me, product of a dying breed
All my homies trying weed, now the little baby's
crazed raised off Hennesey, tell me will my enemies
flee when they see me, believe me
Even Thugs gotta learn to take it easy, listen
Through the intermissions search your heart for a plan
and we turnin Bad Boys to grown men, it's on again
I give a holla to my niggaz in the darkest corners
Roll a perfect blunt, and let me spark it for ya
One love from a thug nigga rollin with a posse
full of paranoid drug dealers, to the end my friend

I'm seein nuttin but my dreams comin true
While I'm starin at the world through my rearview (see)
[repeat 2X]

(They got me) starin at the world through my rearview
Go on baby scream to God, he can't hear you
I can feel your heart beatin fast cause it's time to die (we)
Gettin high, watchin time fly, and all my motherfuckers
[repeat 2X]

[E.D.I.]
Now you see him, now you don't, some niggaz
be here for the moment, and then they gone, what happened to em?
Well let's see, it seems to be a mystery
But all I know I never let the money get to me
Stay down like the, truest
Thug Life until I check out this bitch, I thought you knew this
Who is, gonna catch me when I fall or even care to
While you thinkin I see you lost up in my rearview
Half you, is down with them Outlawz
Outcast, left far, I'm through like southpaws
But still we keep mashin til our dreams come through
Starin at the world through my rearview

Your Song - Elton John

It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live

If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you

And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on

So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

Elton John's 'Your Song' appeared on his second album, Elton John in 1970. The lyrics are written by Bernie Taupin, the music by Elton John. See the videoclip on Youtube.
He performed it live with Ronan Keating, watch the performance. Kermit has his version of the Elton John's classic. Recently The Streets covered the song in a very touchy way, quite similar to Kermit's version.

Gimme Shelter

oh, see the storm is threatening
my very life today
if i don't get some shelter
yeah, i'm gonna fade away

war, children
it's just a kiss away
it's just a kiss away
yeah

oh, see the fire is sweeping
down through the streets today
burning like a bright red carpet
another fool who lost the way

rape.
murder.
it's just a kiss away
it's just a kiss away
yeah
love, children
it's just a shot away
it's just a shot away
love, sisters
it's just a shot away
shot away shot away
war, children
it's just a kiss away
it's just a kiss away

Gimme Shelter, wikipedia entry.
The original Rolling Stones' version and videoclip on Youtube.
The splendid cover by The Sisters of Mercy, on their B-Side of THe Temple of Love.
